How to remove (blank) values in an Excel Pivot Table

You can call it perfectionism, but I hate when my reports are not looking good. One of the most irritating element are those (blank) text you may have on your Excel pivot tables.

I have tried some pivot table options, but seems not to work properly. I think this is not the correct usage of this option.

So, if you want to get rid of this, here is the procedure. Let’s play with conditional formatting:

1) Select the cells you want to remove (blank) text. It could be a single cell, a column, a row, a full sheet or a pivot table.
2) On the Home tab, go on Conditional Formatting, and click on New rule…

3) Select Format only cells that contain
4) Set Format only cells with: Cell Value > equal to > and input (blank) text

5) Click on Format…
6) On the Number tab, select Custom category, then type ;;; (3 semi-columns)

It’s a kind of magic…
