How to change the SharePoint title bar text

One of the most frequent question I’m asked, is, if it’s possible to change the SharePoint title bar text, being on SharePoint or Project Server.

The easiest option, is by using PowerShell. Open a SharePoint 2013 Management Shell as administrator.

Run the following code one line by one (copy first line, execute, copy second line, execute…).
Don’t forget to change your web application url, and title.
$webApp = Get-SPWebApplication http://ps13allinone
$webApp.SuiteBarBrandingElementHtml = “Rock’n’roll baby”
$webApp.Update()

You noted that the code run at Web application level, meaning that all site collections and sites will have the top bar text changed.
The result is the following, no need to restart anything, just refresh your browser.

Yes, me too, I agree that the title is too close to the left border.
The workaround is to add (3 or 4) spaces on the text to update.
$webApp.SuiteBarBrandingElementHtml = “      Rock’n’roll baby”

Much better.

There are some other options to do it, or even better to replace the text by an image or to change only at site level. They are almost all based on JavaScript, for example:

Make your choice, I would very often go for “the easier, the better”.
