Delete a project on Project Server (PWA) 2013
Click
on the Settings button, and click on PWA
Settings.
PWA Settings page is displayed.
Under Queue and
Database Administration, click on the Delete
Enterprise Objects link.
To delete a project, select Projects on the section What
do you want to delete from Project Web App?
You might also want to Delete
draft and published projects. You also have the opportunity to Delete the connected SharePoint sites.
Note that if you don’t delete the associated SharePoint site, you will receive an error the next time you will create a project with the same name as the deleted one, while publishing the site.
Click on Delete
and that’s it. Be careful as deleted
projects cannot be retrieved.
Demand management and ideation in Project Server 2013
In this article, I want to
share with you how we manage demands in my company. By using a SharePoint list
to collect project ideas and initiatives, we are able using a very simple
Project Server 2013 out of the box feature, to create a project and manage it.
Create a SharePoint list to
collect
The first step consists in
creating a new SharePoint custom list. For those who are not familiar with
SharePoint, here is the “HowTo”.
Click on the “Add lists, libraries and other apps.”
Image on the PWA home page. If this default web-part is not present, you can
access the same page by clicking on the settings button, then Site content. Finally on the site
content page, click on add an app.
On the [Site Contents: Your Apps] page, click on Custom List.
Create an Enterprise Project Type with Project Server 2013
Starting with a
definition, what is an Enterprise Project Type (EPT)?
This is the definition I found on office.microsoft.com website:
In Microsoft Project
Web App, an enterprise project type (EPT) represents a wrapper that
encapsulates phases, stages, a single workflow, and Project Detail Pages
(PDPs). Each EPT represents a single project type.
The schema below explains what an EPT contains and the hierarchy
of each elements:
From bottom to top, to create an EPT, you first need to
create Enterprise Custom Fields, Project detail pages (that might contains
custom web-parts), workflow (with phases that contain stages) and finally the
EPT.
Using PERT to calculate task duration in Microsoft Project
Following the definition found in Wikipedia, "the Program (or Project) Evaluation and Review
Technique is a method to analyze the involved tasks in completing a given
project, especially the time needed to complete each task, and to identify the
minimum time needed to complete the total project."
For those who passed or are preparing for the PMP exam, you should
know the famous formula to calculate the expected duration of a task. This is
also known as the "three point
estimate".
Calculation of the expected time (TE): the best estimate of the
time required to accomplish a task, accounting for the fact that things don't
always proceed as normal (the implication being that the expected time is the
average time the task would require if the task were repeated on a number of
occasions over an extended period of time).
The formula is:
TE = (O + 4M + P) ÷ 6
How to Export a SharePoint 2007 User List to Excel
We almost all faced this question from our users, “can you extract me the list of accounts we have in our site collection?”.
You can easily display the list of users by going in Site Actions > Site Settings > People And Groups, but there is no easy way under WSS 3.0, MOSS 2007, SharePoint Foundation and Server 2010 to export user list.
Here is the trick to export the list of users:

For maintenance purpose, I needed to create a dashboard that reports database tables’ size to monitor growth of them. The first command that should be known is the sp_spaceused stored procedure. This command returns the following information:
· Name (table name)
· Rows (number of rows existing)
· Reserved (Total amount of reserved space)
· Data (Total amount of space used by data)
· Index_size (Total amount of space used by indexes)
· Unused (Total amount of space reserved but not yet used)
